We are here to rethink energy in Europe.
Yannick Jonat likes to run, just like many others. Most people do their laps in their local park. Yannick Jonat, however, has already jogged through almost every European capital. That has everything to do with his job.
The twenty seven year old works at Amprion and supports the head of the association of European transmission system operators. Together, the members carry the responsibility for a power grid that supplies more than five hundred million people.

The video introduces Yannick Jonat. It offers insights into his work on Europe’s energy transition. This transformation will significantly reshape the interconnected grid across the continent. Reliability must remain non negotiable. Yannick aims to unite climate action with grid stability, helping to rethink how Europe can secure and modernize its energy landscape.

Amprion is one of Europe’s leading transmission system operators. Its grid serves as a central hub for European electricity trading. At numerous points, it links with the networks of neighboring countries. This creates a connected Europe. The goal is simple, a more integrated continent with an energy system that becomes cleaner, safer and more efficient.

We are here to keep life pulsing on the stage.
Bernd Felder is a virtuoso of light. For thirty three years, he worked in the lighting department of Schauspielhaus Bochum, ten of those as its head. Joining the theatre back then was a dream come true. Few places, he says, allow light to be used in such a striking and expressive way.

In the video, the lighting designer offers a look behind the scenes. You will see the special bond he has with his lighting instruments. “My light supports the emotions on stage.”

Light needs electricity. It may come “from the socket,” but before that it must be generated and then carried through the power grid to homes, businesses and theatres. Amprion manages the long distance traffic of the German electricity system from Lower Saxony to the Alps. Our extra high voltage lines transport the power needed by twenty nine million people, thousands of companies and countless cultural institutions.

We are here to enable climate neutral production.
Dr. Christoph Jansen is part of a monumental undertaking. His mission is to help make the steel producer Thyssenkrupp climate neutral. As Head of Hydrogen and Green Energy, Strategy and Projects, he is driving the company’s transition toward hydrogen based steel production. For this long established industry giant, the shift is about far more than new technology. It is about changing mindsets. “At our Duisburg site alone, we emit twenty million tons of CO2 every year. We have to rethink everything,” he says.

The video introduces him and his project. Learn why the transformation at Thyssenkrupp is more than a job for him and what his children have to do with it.

Like Thyssenkrupp, many companies in the steel and chemical sectors aim to produce without emissions in the future. To achieve this, they plan to use green electricity from renewable sources or hydrogen produced from green electricity. This means industry will need far more power than before. We are therefore working with these companies to plan higher capacity grid connections. On top of that, we want to help convert green electricity into green hydrogen. All to ensure that the energy transition succeeds.

We are here to deliver green power.

Günther Rollmann likes to stay in motion and gets things done. Even in retirement, the former sports teacher and electrician heads out on long bike tours or takes his boat onto Lake Constance. He built his house almost entirely by himself, including the solar system on the roof. Any electricity he does not need flows back into the grid so that other households can benefit from clean energy.

The video introduces Günther Rollmann and shows why he relies on solar power and supports the energy transition. For him, expanding the grid is part of the deal, even if it means accepting new transmission lines. As he puts it, everyone wants electricity, just not in front of their own home. Compromise is unavoidable.

To ensure wind and solar power reach consumers, a strong grid with new lines is essential. Amprion is investing 15.2 billion euros in grid expansion over the next decade. This prepares the path for the energy transition. The goal is clear, Germany aims to become largely climate neutral by 2050.
